TIPS indications
1. Uncontrollable (ie,"rescue")variceal hemorrhage;
2. Recurrent variceal hemorrhage despite EST;
3. Portal hypertensivegastropathy;
4. Refractory ascites;
5. Hepatichydrothorax;
6. Budd-Chiari syndrome.
TIPS contraindication 1. Elevated right orleft heartpressures; 2. Heartfailure or severe cardiacvalvular insufficiency; 3. Rapidly progressive liverfilure; 4. Severe or uncontrolled HE; 5. Uncontrolled systemic infection or sepsis; 6. Unrelieved biliary obstruction; 7. Polycystic liver disease; 8. Extensive primary or metastatichepatic malignancy;and 9. Severe,uncorrectable coagulopathy.
