Definition of CLI
The term critical limb ischemia should be used for all patients with chronic ischemic rest pain, ulcers, or gangrene attributable to objectively proven arterial occlusive disease. --- TASC II Working group, JVS 2009 Definition of CLI
• Persistent, recurring ischemic rest pain requiring opiate analgesia for at least two weeks and
• Ankle systolic pressure <50 mmHg, and/or toe systolic pressure <30 mmHg; or
• Ulceration or gangrene of the foot or toes and ankle systolic pressure <50 mmHg or toe systolic pressure <30 mmHg (or absent pedal pulses in diabetics).
